Please stop by http://bearlysaneaust.blogspot.com to catch up with what's happening in my life from day to day.

Yep! I've finished another wee one...in between working on the B&W Ball.
This is Terrence. Named after my favourtie cousin that I haven't seen since I was a seven year old child.

I hope you like him...he is half an inch shorter than Stan. I think I may be really pushing my luck to go any smaller. Maybe I'll leave that to the experts like my friends Ruth and Gail!
EDIT: Terrence has a loving mum in the Dandenong Ranges.

Well after a busy morning, I decided it was a good day to photograph my new little bear, who I have named Stan the Man, in honour of my good friend Irene's dad who passed away on Saturday aged 76.
Irene's dad was a little mischievious and always had a twinkle in his eye, so I think this little bear does him proud.

Not exactly a mini...but at six inches (15 cm), he's about as small as I can manage. You will find more pictures and full details in my available bears under Memories Collection.
EDIT: Stan has found a loving home to go to in the USA.

As many of you may be aware, much of my time these days is spent promoting fellow artists through www.teddybearsandcritters.com so I don't have as much free time to spend on my own bears as I used to.
Among the assortment of things I organise for the girls is the Challenges which I also participate myself. Now that's all well and good, but just recently I felt I wasn't challenging myself as much as I was the girls. So at the beginning of the year I decided it was time for me to tackle something that has haunted me from the day I began making bears back in 1996...to make a bear smaller than seven inches!
I have long admired the skills of mini bear artists, envied the results they achieve and added many of them to my own personal hug.
Now, after drafting several patterns and throwing most of them in the bin, I think I have finally designed one I am happy with. Over the next little while, in between preparing for the online Black and White Ball which is coming up in June, I am going to finish this little bear...by hook or by crook!

Monday was Dental Check Up Day for Woody!
He's now thirteen years old and attended the Dandenong Vetinary Hospital to have a tooth removed and the rest of his teeth cleaned. He was so brave he came home with a bandanna and his very own Bravery Certificate.

We are very proud of him for being such a good dog and not giving the Vetinarian too much of a hard time.

Well I seem to have caught the bunny bug ... this is my latest whimsical creation that I designed for the challenge. Her name is Hot Cross Bunny and there are more photos if you care to go to my available bears.
I had so much fun designing her I have decided to do a Series called Frolicking Friends.

Well here I was, hoping to have some time to myself to get some sewing done...but no way Jose!
Family committments, Christmas and then heaps of prep work for the "Be My Valentine" show, more artwork for TBACA's Gallery (three new members), project for Australian Bear Creations...but finally out of the chaos...a bunny emerged.
Definitely whimsical, very girly, a little bit wierd but loads of fun to design and make.

Why not take a look at him ... he's a lovely fluffy clown bear with a big red nose. He may make a great Christmas gift to yourself! LOL!

My Cubbies proved to be successful. Alvin, Darwin and Gladwin all went to new homes...

...along with Peachy Keen.
The day was very busy and we had queues lined up at the door waiting to get in, right up until lunchtime. It was terrific to see so many people coming to the show...very reminiscent of the shows we attended in the late eighties and early nineties.
Glenn and I had a most enjoyable weekend and it was great meeting all the collectors and catching up with friends and artists from around Australia and New Zealand.

Some time back I agreed to design something special for a Teddy Bear and Friends Feature Article coming out later this year. After working for weeks on these little critters, they are finally on their way to be photographed in the US.
This was a very time consuming excercise, but one I have throughly enjoyed doing. It has been quite some time since I designed any teddy bear clothing and I just loved every minute I spent on this couple.

I would love to know what you think of them.
Hugs,
Sandi
